Hydrocarbons and Amino Acids on Android

I continue adding my apps to the Google Play. Recently, two chemistry apps appeared there: Hydrocarbons (Android):
Get it on Google Play

and Amino Acids (Android):
Get it on Google Play

They are not the exact copies of their iOS counterparts. There are several major improvements:
1) There are no IAPs: all questions in Hydrocarbons and flashcards in Amino Acids are available for free. And both apps are free as well.
2) There are new multiple-choice modes that cover all compounds and provide a nice variety to the existing letter quizzes.
3) Both apps are brought to the latest standards of my quizzes: 14 letters, scalability of all elements, a different layout of the main menu.
4) There were multiple fixes and changes in localization, icons, and so on.
5) In my all Android apps, the language can be chosen in the game Settings rather than in the device Settings that is much more convenient and looks very nice.

The same updates will come to iOS in due time. All other quizzes will be added to Google Play soon. I am updating the corresponding parts of this site and I am always glad to hear your suggestions and ideas about my apps.

Famous Operas and Composers App debuts on Android

Today is the big day: Famous Operas and Composers is my first app to appear on Android devices.

  Get it on Google Play

The app is the essentially rewritten iOS verison. I wrote about it in this blog when it was published two months ago: https://asmolgam.com/2014/07/04/famous-operas/.

After several days-weeks-months of development, my apps will start appearing on the second platform. First, on Google Play. Then I may think about other Android stores. It is the time to celebrate. It is the time to work even harder to transfer all other quizzes during the next several weeks.

Capitals of the World

Capitals of the World is the third part of my “compilation” apps (after Flags and Maps) on the World geography. For 32 capital cities, I have added the pics to make the app more colorful.

The English description of the game is the following:

Guess the capital cities of all 197 countries in the world! Choose the game mode and find the capital of your country:
* Spelling quizzes (easy and hard)
* Multiple-choice quizzes – “challenges” (also easy and hard)
* Time game (give the most answers in 1 minute)

Internet Top-Level Domain Names

Internet Top-Level Domain Names may be called a geography quiz or an IT quiz. There are not so many popular generic top-level domain names: .com, .edu, .org – I included only 8 of them in this app. So it’s first of all about country codes: but we all know that not every .me site is Montanegrian.

The English description of the game is the following:

* Do you know that .ly is the Lybian domain address or that .tv belongs to Tuvalu – a tiny island country in Oceania?

* Learn and check your knowledge about top-level domains.

* More than 200 top-level domain names: .com, .edu, .us, and others.

Maps of All Countries of the World

Maps of All Countries of the World is the logical continuation of Flags of the World and is a compilation of country maps from my previous apps. Now all maps are available for free in one app.

The English description of the game is the following:

Guess all 197 countries of all continents by their outline maps! Choose the game mode and find the map of your country:
* Spelling quizzes (easy and hard)
* Multiple-choice quizzes – “challenges” (also easy and hard)
* Time game (give the most answers in 1 minute)

English Proverbs

My new app English Proverbs would improve your knowledge of English language. From several sources, I wisely chose 200 the most important proverbs that can be converted to a “guess the missing word game”. Some proverbs were not included because they looked politically incorrect or too violent for me.

The English description of the game is the following:

Guess the missing word in 200 English proverbs and idioms:
* Spell the missing word quizzes (easy and hard)
* Multiple-choice quizzes (also easy and hard)
* Flashcards to browse all 200 proverbs

*****
Try the multiple-choice mode: often it suggests very funny answers.

Dutch Provinces

Dutch Provinces or Provinces of the Netherlands is my latest app about the regional geography. It wasn’t on the top of my to-do list when I received a request to do an app about Netherlands from a person who liked my other apps. It was about three weeks ago and I was happy to create such an app and receive some help with translations into Dutch.

The English description of the game is the following:

Learn all 12 Provinces of the Netherlands (from Friesland to Zeeland) and 3 Public bodies in the Caribbean Netherlands (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba):
* names
* maps
* capitals
* flags
* coats of arms

*****
The app itself was pretty straightforward to prepare using my previous apps as a template. However, once it was submitted and approved, I discovered a small but potentially annoying bug in several of my geography apps. I postponed the release of this app and prepared the updates for it and 8 other apps (they’ve been already approved and since it’s merely bug fixing I haven’t written separate posts about these updates). Finally, this morning the version 1.1 of Dutch Provinces passed the review and I make it available on the App Store. Enjoy!

I thank Mert for the idea of this app.

Swiss Cantons

I wanted to release the Swiss Cantons app before the Swiss National Day (August 1). But the app was rejected yesterday for its too long title. I cut it down and the app was approved and released today, on August 1 in the US but already on August 2 in Europe.

The English description of the game is the following:

Learn all 26 cantons of Switzerland – from Zürich and Basel-Stadt to Geneva and Lucerne:
* names
* maps
* capitals
* coats of arms / flags
